Kakheti is the mother of Georgian wines. The most popular varieties—Kindzmarauli, Saperavi, Tsinandali, and Mukuzani—are grown here in the fertile soil of the Alazani Valley.
Autumn is the busiest time of year in Kakheti. Trucks carrying the harvest roll endlessly along the roads, and the wineries are bustling with activity—tourists tread grapes in wooden troughs, fill qvevris with the new harvest, make churchkhela, and enjoy wine tastings in between.
But the beauty and flavors of Kakheti can be appreciated not only in autumn, because Kakheti is not only about harvesting and wine, it is also about beautiful, ancient monasteries and fortresses, cozy towns and villages... and wine.

1. Departure at 9:00

We visit the Alaverdi Monastery, a monastic complex with a cathedral of the same name dating back to the first quarter of the 11th century, which is considered one of the four great cathedrals of Georgia.
We're heading to Telavi, the capital of Kakheti. Here, we're planning lunch (not included in the tour price) at an authentic family restaurant. Then we stroll through the cozy town of Telavi, taking in its iconic landmarks along the way. We visit a winery and enjoy a tasting.
We are going to the town of Ikalto, where we will have dinner (dinner is included) and spend the night today.

2. Departure at 10:00

Breakfast at the hotel
We visit the 16th-century Gremi Fortress—a royal fortress with the Church of the Archangels. This is all that remains of the once-thriving town of Gremi.
We visit the Nekresi monastery complex, a 6th-century Orthodox monastery. Excavations are still ongoing here. And of course, from the monastery's heights, there's a breathtaking view of the Alazani Valley.
We'll travel to the town of Tsinandali, the namesake of a famous Georgian wine. We'll stroll through the town (optional visit to the Alexander Chavchavadze House Museum) and stop for lunch (included in the tour price) and a wine tasting with a Georgian winemaking family, growing 40 (!!!) grape varieties on their small plot.
We'll travel to Sighnaghi. Check into your hotel, take an optional evening stroll through the city, and dine at a local restaurant (not included).

3. Eviction.

We visit the 9th-century Bodbe Monastery, famous for its views.
We'll stroll through Sighnaghi, climb the city wall, stroll along the winding cobbled streets of the City of Love, have lunch in a cozy restaurant (lunch not included) with stunning views of the Alazani Valley, and climb to an observation deck offering the most beautiful view of Sighnaghi.
We'll stop by another family-owned winery, enjoy a tasting, learn about the secrets of winemaking, and take part in a master class on making ajapsandali.
We'll set off towards Tbilisi. Estimated return time is 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM.
